The establishment of our first "late" net and our desire to support and promote that net have led to a NEW AWARD! The Graveyard Shift Award recognizes participation in the NATA late nets and is a multi-level award basic upon meeting certain criteria for each level. As always, no QSL cards are required if you hold one of the accepted Worked All States awards or the NATA Worked All North America award. Here are the requirements: - All contacts must take place on a NATA net operating between 0430z and 0830z. The 25% non-net contact allowance does not apply to the entry level for this award but does for the subsequent steps with the requirement that logged contacts from the allowance take place during the 0430z to 0830z window.
- All contacts must be logged on or after the first date of operation of the 40m Late Net.
- All contacts must be confirmed both ways by QSL card or electronic QSL (eQSL or LOTW).
- There is no fee for this award (or any NATA award!) unless the applicant requests a hard certificate printed and mailed to them.
LEVELS: - Graveyard - 13 confirmed contacts (including one NCS)
- Boneyard - 26 total contacts
- Grave Digger - 26 additional contacts
- Grave Robber - 52 additional contacts
- Tomb Raider - 208 total contacts
SPECIAL ENDORSEMENTS - Deep Six - 13 contacts with stations from the 6th call area
- The Last Round Up - 13 contacts with stations from the 5th and/or 7th call area
- Iceman - participate in 13 consecutive late nets (no application, late net NCS will submit your name when you qualify)
- Undertaker - Serve as NCS for 13 late nets
Application forms are not required. Simply submit a log file with your online application submittal! |

LATE.... BREAKING.... INFORMATIVE.... (Hmmmm, no, yes - sort of, absolutely!) Congratulations to Leif, KD0ETE, who is the proud papa of twin girls, Signe Adele and Brynja Hope, who just couldn't wait and decided to be born a LITTLE early at 35 weeks. Mom and daughters are doing well with the twins in NICU temporarily! Lots of BIG doing's for Leif lately! Join us in congratulating the Halvorsen's! |

NATA welcomed it's first DX check-in on the 40 Meter SSB net on the evening of May 5th when Giovanni Chajon, TG9AOO, joined us for a long round of contacts with nearly every station on the net being able to work Giovanni! We're looking forward to more DX stations finding NATA and checking in for those hard-to-find DX contacts! We welcome all amateurs to our nets and look forward to continued growth to other bands! |

INTRODUCING DAVID BELL, KD8JWH My name is David Bell. I am almost 13 years old. I became interested in Ham Radio because of my Grandpa who has been a Ham Operator (NN8J) for 35 years. I have 2 younger brothers. We are all Homeschooled. It gives me a lot of time to talk on my radios, because once I'm finished with my schoolwork then I have time to pursue other interests.
I have a Kenwood 570 radio and a Yaesu FT 7100 for my VHF/UHF operation. I am learning morse code, which my Grandma has been helping me with. She is also a Ham Operator. (K8AMB) My current challenge is to talk to someone in all 50 states. I am having fun collecting and sending QSL cards. I also started my own net on Monday nights and enjoy being the Net Operator. My grandparents were very helpful in my Ham Radio setup and achievements. My Grandpa also helped me build 2 antennas.
In my spare time I love to ride dirt bikes, play baseball, and guitar. I'm always fixing my bicycle. In the winter I like to go sledding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing with my family. Our family is very involved in our church and we love to also go camping every chance we get.
I appreciate the Ham Operators out there who take the time to talk to me. Thank you for putting my story on the North American Traffic and Awards website. |

Mike Stevens, W8EMT, is active on our nets as a mobile station. Operating from the road, Mike has helped many of our participants log contacts with states across the southeast and midwest on NATA nets! On Tuesday, May 5th, Mike paid a visit to Missouri and met with Jim, KU0G, for lunch at the Pilot Truck Stop at mile marker 49 on Interstate 70. Mike's truck is his radio home on NATA nets. It is equipped with an Alinco HF rig along with a Kenwood TM-D700A which Mikes operates for voice and APRS.
If you're mobile, be on the lookout for W8EMT/M operating on the nation's highways!
