NATA WORKED ALL TRIPLE PLAY AWARD! REVISED....

This award will be a real challenge so read on! Triple Play WAS, sponsored by ARRL, has brought a new challenge to radio amateurs since it was announced and log entries were opened for credit. In recognition of the role that this award has played in bringing new members to the NATA nets this award is now available. It also represents an opportunity to invite new members to our nets and encourage them to become regular members!

After receiving input from holders of Triple Play we have modified Requirement #3. The basic award now requires a total of 150 contacts with Triple Play award holders. Additional endorsements have been added as well.

In order to meet the goal of recruiting new net participants and to make this award especially challenging, the following special rules will apply:

  1. The 25% non-NATA net credit is not applicable to this award. ALL contacts must be made on a NATA net and must be logged after 0001z February 9, 2009.
  2. This award is single-mode only and stations may earn the award on each of the modes which NATA offers nets (CW, SSB, PSK, and RTTY). There is no restriction for operating band.
  3. In order to qualify for the award you must submit logs detailing contact with 150 existing holders of the ARRL Triple Point WAS award as of the date and time you submit your log for this award (not your TPWAS award). As of the date this award was announced there are currently 157 holders of this award.
  4. Due to the nature of DX on 75 meters and band allocations, we will establish split frequency operations to facilitate contacts with DX stations. DX stations may contact the scheduled NCS in advance to advise that they will be on net and to arrange a frequency. This information will be announced on the net AND included on the NetLogger feed.
  5. Additional endorsements available are: All Same Mode, All Same Band, plus endorsements for working additional increments of 50 TPWAS holders beyond the first 150.

Good luck working toward this new award!!! Please spread the word and go out and actively recruit holders of TPWAS to join us on NATA nets.

Tuesday, 17 February 2009 00:50

A hearty welcome to all of the new folks that have checked in to our nets in the past week! Please take a few moments to dig through the website and find out more about us and what we do. We're very glad to have you with us. We are especially excited to have added the 160 meter band to our schedule and look forward to meeting a whole new group of ham friends on "top band!"

NATA exists to serve the people that check in to our nets and we mean EVERY participant from the first-timer to those that are here night after night and net after net! YOUR opinion counts AND we actually listen and take it VERY seriously even if you're new to the nets! We don't profess to have all the answers and every new person that checks in with us is an opportunity to get new ideas and fresh approaches to what we do here!

So...

  • If you're new: Thanks for checking us out and please know that you are ALWAYS welcome on our nets!!!
  • If you're a regular: Thanks for being there and supporting us all the way!

Keep checking in with us and please remember that we're not the only net out there! We hope that you will check in with OMISS, check out the 3618 group, and - most importantly - be on the air and HAVE FUN!

Put it in the books! First 160 Meter Net logs 144 QSO's! PDF Print E-mail

Monday, 16 February 2009 00:26

NATA is now on 160 meters! Our first net was held Sunday evening (local) at 0345z and closed at 0524z. Eighteen stations participated with KU0G as NCS for the 160 meter inaugural net. Round one saw every stations getting a one minute (self-policed) to make as many calls as possible. Round two saw a similar run. Several stations completely new to NATA found us tonight and we had some very enthusiastic new participants, all eager to help out! With this new net start-up the website broke 100 registered users, too! Welcome to all of our new participants and we look forward to hearing you on ALL of our NATA nets.

Tonight's net participants should check their logged contacts and look at the requirements for the NATA Dirty Dozen Awards! I suspect we have several stations that qualified for this award tonight! There were 13 states on the net tonight so if you worked every station on the net you've got the contacts for a 160m endorsed Dirty Dozen award! Complete the application and submit it through the online award filing system!

Every participant in tonight's first 160 meter SSB net will receive a special award certificate which are now available for downloading and self-printing. Your certificate is in your MY AWARDS FOLDER accessible from the USER MENU on the left sidebar of the front page. Thanks to all for making this new addition to our net schedule a big success in spite of poor band conditions! Here is the official log list of tonight's check-ins in order. Certificates will be sequentially numbers starting with the second station on the list. NCS (KU0G) will take #19.

Website Enhancements PDF Print E-mail

Sunday, 15 February 2009 12:41

We've upgraded Community Builder overnight Saturday. The upgrade allows a little more flexibility with user registration "behind the scenes." In addition you will now notice the presence of a PERSONAL MAILBOX in the left column and a PRIVATE MESSAGES in the right column. We're working to add private live chat and hope to have that available for you in the next week or so.

The site login module was disabled overnight Saturday while we did the upgrades and is now back in operation. Please let us know if you experience any problems with site functionality over the next few days. If there is a feature you'd like to see on our website please let us know! NATA is all about serving all participants and we are ready to offer you the tools and features which will enhance your on-air experience with our nets!
