What is required for counting a contact made on NATA? PDF Print E-mail

You must exchange signal reports on your own! The minimum acceptable signal report is 2-by-2. NCS will not validate a contact based upon a station asking if they heard the report correctly of ANY other station other than the station you are trying to work.

Please identify yourself and the station you wish to call. NCS and others WILL assist you with initially contacting the station you need but after that no further assistance is given other than giving an "over" to let you know that the other station has finished transmitting.

You are allowed 3 chances to complete the contact. After you have exhausted these you must move on to another contact.

In 1976, AA4US and others founded a Bicentennial Worked All States Net. At the end of 1976 the fun and fellowship of the net was continued with the founding of the North American Traffic & Awards Net. The net ceased operations in the mid-1980's at the bottom of the sunspot cycle.

Is it possible to earn other awards using contacts made on NATA? PDF Print E-mail

You indeed can use your contacts toward ANY award which allows contact credit from any resource.

For instance, if you upload your contact logs to Logbook of the World all credits are applicable to ARRL Awards including the NEW TRIPLE-PLAY WORKED ALL STATES award!!!

Another example is the use of eQSL.cc for their awards. You will need to register there and be classified as Authenticity Guaranteed before your contacts will be accepted for eQSL awards credit.

Other awards organizations may or may not accept credits made on NATA nets. It's always best to ask what their policy may be toward NATA or other net contact credits.

Our awards system does not require submittal of QSL cards IF you meet one of the following requirements:

  • Hold an ARRL Worked All States award (file your WAS certificate number when filing your awards application through our online system!)
  • Hold an eQSL Worked All States award (again, file your certificate number at the time you file our award applications)
  • Earn the Worked All North America award sponsored by NATA (once earned, enter the certificate number with your award application)

Some awards may require QSL cards however when such are required you may attach scanned copies of your cards to your awards application file and additional pages. Contacts applied toward NATA awards coming from other resources (up to 25% of each award's contacts) MAY result in a request for QSL confirmation (ADIF logs may be allowed in some cases).
